Sofas, Shotokan and Sticking Around

Okay, after yesterday’s post I worked myself in to a frenzy of feeling trapped by the new furniture but today I’ve decided the place really does look better and that staying where I am for a while might be a good idea.

I have my first Shotokan grading in November so that’s one fairly good reason to stick around. I’m pretty nervous about it as I’ve just realised that, due to working away, I can only fit in two more dojo sessions before the grading.

It’s not that it’s difficult at this stage but the differences between Shotokan and Kyokushin still have me flailing around like a demented octopus from time to time. I’d die of embarrassment if I did anything that stupid in a grading.

The other thing is the stances. They’re so much lower in Shotokan and the old knees protest a bit.

Anyway, before I end up talking myself back into that possible move back to SA, here a couple of pics of the lounge before and after the sofas.

Much better with the sofas. At least I have somewhere comfortable to sit and write now.

I’m planning to read through Yantsu tomorrow to try and kickstart the urge to write. That might be dangerous though, as it may well throw me into editing mode. I’ll see how it goes. I have a chunk of time set aside on Monday to write so, barring the sudden urge to train in the middle of the day or further urgent furniture acquistion attacks, I should have an update on the book on Monday night.
