Crash and Burn

It’s not like I didn’t know it was going to happen so I don’t know why I’m surprised. You can’t keep going forever burning the candle at both ends. Today I woke up with a miserable headache, sore throat and a pain in the neck.

I’ve been sitting in front of the laptop most of the day staring at the screen and messing up just about everything I’ve done. I’ve relegated almost 2000 words of Yantsu to the scrap file and a couple of plot ideas have been sent to the asylum file (my folder for crazy ideas) to mellow a bit.

On the plus side, I’ve managed to eat well today and get plenty of water down my neck. At least the nutrition side of things is looking up if not the training. I decided to give it a miss tonight and get some sleep instead.

At least I got a good run in yesterday and a pretty good training session last night. Maybe the pain in the neck is a result of too many push ups and punches.

So, early night tonight to give the rest-starved brain a break and then back to the writing in earnest tomorrow. Who knows, perhaps the crazy ideas will seem a little less crazy after some sleep. Maybe even the scrap will get a reprieve.

    Dear Karen,

I would love to remind you that you’ve just released a book! So don’t be too hard on yourself πŸ™‚ Most of us have not even released a single book yet, so don’t worry things will certainly look up. Take some well deserved and might i add “needed” rest so that you don’t burn out ok?

Training can wait, but your health and sanity cannot!

    Osu! Chris,
Thank you for that bit of perspective. You are right, of course, but I’m just so stubborn. My early night turned into a disaster and I ended up going to bed at 2.15am but I am definitely going to rest today! πŸ™‚ (I think – Yantsu is calling.)

Maybe the sore neck is from bending it down in front of the notebook! Take a rest – Chris is absolutely correct!

    Have a good weekend.

    Hi Emil,

Thanks. Yes, it could well be. I think the fizzing sensation under the left shoulder blade is definitely notebook related. I sense a chill out weekend on the cards.

Hope you have a good weekend too.
