No More Editing!

This is it. The final decision has been made. No more editing on Sanchin. I will finish the final read through of the proof copy and unless there is anything I’ve overlooked that needs correcting I’m doing nothing else to the book! It really is time to let this one go. I’ve said that more times than I can remember. Okay, maybe I could tighten the dialogue up a bit here or speed up the action a bit there but […]

Sanchin and Creeping Deadlines

Well the deadline for Sanchin is creeping up rather faster than I’m comfortable with at the moment. Life really seems to be getting in the way of writing right now. It’s times like this when I wish I could make a full time living out of writing fiction. They say time goes faster the older you get but this is insane. I can’t believe we are already almost half way through the year. Time seems to be flying and I […]

Sanchin vs Yantsu

Okay, first the good news. I managed to rescue quite a bit of Yantsu from the scrap file and I’ve added to it today. It’s coming along well again and I think I’ve exorcised the demons for the moment. The not so good news is that Sanchin is due out on the 15th May and I’ve suddenly gone mad and decided it needs one more final edit. I’m halfway through doing it and I should still make the deadline but […]

A Confidence Boost and A Confession

Okay, confession first. I haven’t written a single word on Yantsu today. There, I said it. I haven’t even opened the document and I do feel guilty about it. But today it was Sanchin’s turn for a bit of attention. Now, I know Sanchin is already in the process of being published but I left it up on Authonomy anyway. It’s always interesting to hear what other people think but, as I’ve said before, there comes a time when you […]

Chris the Genius :)

I love it when those random little things in life turn into something wonderful. I’ve been following Chris’ blog My Kyokushin – The Diary of a Karateka for some time now. I first found it when it popped up on my Google alert for Kyokushin. I can’t tell you how many times I hit the comment button and then changed my mind. I’m not sure why, I just didn’t think I had anything of value to add for him or […]

Missing Sanchin

I went for a run last night to try and clear my head and figure out why I was feeling so strange about publishing Sanchin in eBook format. I think I get it now and I would probably feel the same way if it was out in paperback too. For the last six months I’ve spent more time with the characters of Sanchin than I have with the real people in my life. Now the book is out there and […]

Sanchin – A Life of its Own and a Moment of Panic

I’m not sure how I feel today. Overwhelmed I guess. It was always my intention to publish Sanchin in eBook form as well as paperback, but I did think I would launch the paperback first. Now, I’m normally the crazy impulsive type who does something (usually stupid) and then deals with the consequences as they happen, but his time I thought I would plan ahead. Anyway, today I decided to get the formatting right for the eBook and I uploaded […]

Letting Go

I want to say a huge thank you to Chris from Kyokushin Kan – A Journey Through Karate for reading through the final draft of Sanchin and allaying my biggest fear –  will a fellow martial artist enjoy my book? Chris is at the beginning of his journey in Kyokushin Karate (the style I train in and one which has strongly influenced the novel). He is also an experienced practitioner in other styles. Thank you, Chris, for taking the time […]

Sanchin – The Never Ending Story

Well, it’s not Sanchin that doesn’t end, it’s my fiddling and poking around with the manuscript. Today I got through the entire final read but I made a few changes here and there as I was going along and now I have to read through again 😮 I have a horrible tendency to make mistakes when I make changes. I’ll have to export to PDF or print it out before I read through again. That way I can’t fiddle any […]

Sanchin – The Final Countdown

I spent most of the morning doing some ruthless last minute cutting and now I’m finally ready for that last read through. By this time tomorrow, or Monday at the latest, Sanchin will be on the last leg of its journey to publication. It’s been a long and, for the most part, rewarding experience. Whatever happens now,  it will have been worth all of the blood, sweat and tears. This afternoon I rewarded myself with a good workout. My training […]
